Our School Day
At Merriott Primary School, we provide a structured and caring environment that helps children make the most of every school day. A range of wraparound care options are also available to support working families.
MORNING PROVISION
Breakfast Club
7:30am – 8:45am
Our Breakfast Club is held in the School Hall and offers a welcoming start to the day. Children can enjoy breakfast and take part in a range of calm activities before the school day begins.
Early Risers
8:00am – 8:45am
For families requiring a later start, our Early Risers provision offers supervised care from 8:00am. Please note that breakfast is not included in this session.
START OF THE SCHOOL DAY
School site opens: 8:30am
Classrooms open: 8:40am
Registration opens: 8:45am
Registration closes: 9:15am
Children should arrive promptly to ensure a calm and positive start to their learning. Regular punctuality helps children settle quickly and make the most of every learning opportunity.
MORNING BREAK
10:30am – 10:45am
Children in Reception and Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) are provided with a free piece of fruit each day through the Government's School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme.
Children in Key Stage 2 are welcome to bring a healthy piece of fruit from home for their break-time snack.
SCHOOL MILK
Milk can be ordered directly through School Milk. Children under the age of five are entitled to free milk until their fifth birthday. Milk is distributed during the morning break to children who have registered for the scheme.
LUNCHTIME
12:15pm – 1:15pm
Children can enjoy either a hot school meal or a packed lunch from home.
Our freshly prepared hot meals are provided by Wadham School. Please visit the School Meals section of our website for menus, pricing and further information.
To support healthy eating, we ask that packed lunches do not contain:
- Fizzy drinks
- Sweets
- Chocolate bars (except as part of a balanced lunch)
AFTERNOON SESSION
1:15pm – 3:15pm
Learning continues throughout the afternoon, with a range of curriculum subjects, enrichment opportunities and wider school activities.
END OF THE SCHOOL DAY: 3:15PM
AFTER SCHHOL CLUB
3:15pm – 4:30pm
Our After School Club provides a safe, relaxed environment where children can take part in activities, socialise with friends and unwind at the end of the school day.
Booking Extended Services
All Breakfast Club, Early Risers and After School Club sessions should be booked through Schoolcomms/ Parent Pay App.
Tax-Free Childcare & Childcare vouchers can be used to pay for Extended Services. For further details, please contact the School Office.
Collection Arrangements
Parents and carers using our extended services are reminded to access the school site via the Hitchen entrance when dropping off or collecting children.
